Nice place with more
hills and valleys, with The Co şuştea river and affluents.
The main place
Căzăneşti contains more small villages: Stiucani, Gârbovăţul de Sus, Suharu,
Ilovu, Căzăneşti, Jigni ţa, Valea
Coşuştii, Severineşti, Govodarva, Paltinişu, Poiana,
Roşia, Valea
Alunului, Ercea.
Nearest cities are Drobeta Turnu
Severin (30 km
away) and Motru (18 km away).
The main places of
community are in Valea Coşuştii: medical services, Village Hall.
The police station is located in
Jigniţa.
The main primary and
secondary schools are located at Căzăneşti and Severineşti.
All the other places
have primary schools.
In the past, the
majority has worked in mines, nearest of Motru or to the local estate farm
(CAP before 1989), or others places.
In present days the are a few people
who work in their private small farms.
There are funny times only during the
main holidays like: Easter,
Christmas, and Saint Maria (8 September).
With those
occasions people make some traditional dinners in every house, cut some
animals like pork, sheep, cow to make traditional aperitifs and meals.
The favourite drinks
are: red vine from own plant, “tuica” distilled alcohol drink, and beer.
